Construction Accountant

Summary: We are currently in search of a stellar Accountant for the Construction Arm of our organization. The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in accounting within the construction field, a capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, an exemplary work ethic coupled with an ability to work efficiently and effectively placing strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Position reports directly to the Controller.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform formal monthly job/profit reviews including cost and projected cost reports with management to review current position of jobs.
Hold monthly job cost performance meetings with management to review job cost and ‘cost to complete’ analysis.
Track and review all cost associated to job cost with relevant personnel.
Adjust job to include any budget overages or project revisions.
Train and educate relevant personnel on how to read and understand various job cost reports
relating to jobs and indirect costs.
Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Responsible for monthly closings.
Assist in building and updating all costs for bidding purposes.
Create monthly tracking reports for various job costs.
Identify and notify appropriate personnel of any pertinent budget overages.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant job costing accounting work experience with a solid
understanding of accounting principles.
Extensive knowledge in QuickBooks PC (other construction job costing software?)
Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Strong Excel), QuickBooks PC
Excellent analytical skills.
Ability to operate as a professional in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, prepare
periodic reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually).
Proficient in English both written and oral.
Valid driver’s license.
