Director of Communications

Position Summary: The Director of Communications will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership of all company communications, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms to all stakeholders, both internal and external. Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing, this position will develop PR programs that support the company’s rapid growth. This exciting position requires a leader experienced in advancing the development of core messaging and positioning for a growing company, then executing a plan to communicate with a broad set of audiences consistently. The right candidate must develop and maintain direct communication efforts with functional leads across the organization to ensure cohesion and collaboration of our corporate messaging.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop communication strategies to create or enhance awareness of the company.

  • Responsible for all key corporate communications functions, including concept development, writing/editing, production, and distribution as well as management of external agencies.

  • Create and edit content for website, newsletters, messaging and marketing material.

  • Become the organization’s agent towards external parties such as media, public relations and potential clients while building strategic partnerships.

  • In collaboration with Human Resources and Functional Leads, manage internal employee communications.

  • Responsible for all corporate communications, including corporate visibility, media and public relations, plus

  • alignment with corporate strategy and public affairs.

  • Develop and evolve the communication strategy to align with changes to the business.

  • Act as a gateway and liaison for public relations.

  • Review all PR messaging for consistency and accuracy.

  • Support executive staff in their roles as company spokespeople.

  • Provide support for key stakeholder’s interviews within the media.

  • Attend press conferences, pertinent meetings and other relevant events.

  • Meet with community organizations and leaders to tell our story and create partnerships.

  • Conduct general market research to keep abreast of trends.

  • Organize and oversee production of events.

  • Work  on  the  execution  of  special  projects  including  investment  documents,  RFP’s  and  PowerPoint presentations.

  • Manage calendar of company milestones, events, speaking opportunities, awards, etc.

  • Support management team with presentation preparation and other internal or external communications.

  • Develop corporate and property-specific communication materials, including press releases, Q&A documents, presentations, fact sheets and briefing documents.

  • Prepare company management for all speaking opportunities and media interviews, including development of talking points and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, etc.

  • 8-10 years of experience in marketing with direct experience leading Corporate Communications for a diverse organization.

  • Demonstrated experience to lead and influence within a matrixed environment.

  • Established relationships and credibility within the local communities, media and relevant journalists.

  • Experience in crisis communication and brand reputation management.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
