The Hospitality Division was created in 1990 when Sal Lupoli and his brother Nick opened the first Sal’s Pizza store in Salem, NH. Their success was attributable to using only the freshest and finest ingredients. Today, Sal’s Pizza has transformed into a large retail franchise and wholesale operation with more than 40 businesses serving all of New England and added locations in California, Arizona and India. In 1994 Sal’s Pizza decided to invest in building a state-of-art 35,000 sq. ft. USDA approved commissary.
Summary: We are in search of a highly qualified, skilled, experienced food operations (production, logistics, sales) professional to manage and run our $10M Wholesale facility in Salem, NH which currently employs a staff of 55 people. This position reports to Phil McCabe, Senior Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to:
Plan production workflow meeting daily production targets while maintaining cost and quality standards.
Provide solid leadership on a daily basis while supervising all aspects of the facility.
Develop processes to maximize efficiencies throughout the facility (materials, equipment and people).
Establish a maintenance and replacement schedule for all equipment.
Oversee logistics (deliveries, etc.).
Create annual target goals and establish budget to ensure attainment of these goals.
Translate what is required to achieve target goals into actionable items, track and monitor progress.
Recruit, hire, train, develop and evaluate employee performance; ability to initiate disciplinary action as needed.
Evaluate and implement operating methods and procedures striving for the lowest possible cost to produce the highest quality products.
Address production schedules and priorities that result from equipment failure or operational problems that may negatively impact delivery.
Take a proactive role working with the team to develop new products and determine production costs.
Ensure compliance with USDA production requirements, HACCP, OSHA and GMP.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
7-10 years of supervisory experience in food production.
Demonstrated success managing cost and quality control.
Solid experience overseeing logistics/distribution.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral), organize, prioritize and manage time.
Solid relationship-building and fostering skills.
Adept at effectively leading and developing people, processes, and procedures.
Computer skills; proficient with Outlook and Microsoft Office.
